Who is Johnnie DeGiorgi?
My name is Johnnie DeGiorgi. I am a life-long resident of the Maryland-DC region. I was born in DC in 1951. I was in the DC foster care system from birth until my 21st birthday. I was in various foster homes in the DC and southern Maryland region. At age 6 I finally found a permanent home with a foster family in Temple Hills (Prince Georges County). I attended and graduated from Crossland Senior High School in June 1970. At Crossland I was in the vocational track. I am a journeyman cement finisher and have worked construction jobs for a good part of my life. I attended Prince George's County Police Academy and have served as a police officer. I have spent many hours working as a volunteer. I am involved in volunteer search and rescue organizations; I train wilderness search dogs. I have taught Red Cross first aid and safety classes. I am an EMT-B and serve in this position as a volunteer. In 2003 I retired after 27 years working for the federal government (US Navy, civilian). I am currently a state certified driving instructor. I moved to Charles County in the early 1980s. I have lived in western Charles County ever since.

My wife, Virginia, and I met at work (The Naval Research Laboratory) and were married in 1988. My wife and I live in Nanjemoy. My wife is a research engineer and her job sometimes involves long hours and travel. We have 3 large dogs (German Shepherds), 3 inside house cats, 2 horses and several outside 'barn' cats.

I am a family oriented man who loves the outdoors.

Charles County has changed a great deal in the years I have lived here. However, not all the changes I have seen have been for the better. Many people have asked me why I've gotten involved in politics. The answer is simple. I feel that I can do a better job than our current elected County Commissioners.
